She is a bard... but there's also the Tiefling you meet right before the Gith Patrol.. who ends up dead, BUT you can ask her to join you

Do not get your hopes up for Alfira. She's gonna be a companion and then I'd imagine that next long rest you ritualistically murder her. It ain't gonna be a long thing, even the patch notes you read specifically says it's "temporary".

I think they just mean that the night where she enters the Dark Urge camp, she briefly gets added to the party list where you can level her up, this just makes the dark urge night event have a bigger impact

Well, if Larian won't make Alfira a permanent companion, the modders will.

The reason why Alfria would only join the Dark Urge is because Sceleritas Fel sets up circumstances to convince her to join. He actually says he went thru a lot of work to try to make you kill her if you fail to kill her for some reason.

In act 2 Durge butler makes you kill a party member and you need to land a saving throw to prevent it. I hope that they do this for Alfira so we can have a bard.

If it’s dark urge only it may be a thing where you can hav beer around and after a certain point you loose it and, well if you play dark urge you know

She's the only "companion" who doesn't immediately join your party, I think this is just to make the surprise of the [spoiler] better by making her act like other companies
