I'm already convinced, I can't believe Nintendo would do this

That the suffering employees could sneak subtle pleas for rescue into the Toads' dialogue without anyone checking is the kind of premise that just feels right to believe. I say do it.

I'd love to see SimpleFlips make a Mario iceberg video except everything is made up, imagine the slander he'd make towards the most random characters

Now I understand why he really wanted that psychology degree

When Toad said "I fucking miss my kids and my dog" in Super Mario 3D Land I knew something was up

I've never been so tempted to "The ARD Truth"

toadette literally is anti-union in at least two mario games (mario and luigi paper jam and mario maker **2** story mode) so there's a legitimate case to be made here

You know, I really think Nintendo meant to tell us a message when Mario went "I'm a tired".

I can't believe Nintendo doesn't feed their employees. That's why there's all those hidden burgers in the background of Mario Maker 2.

In Super Mario Bros, when Toad tells Mario that "The princess is in another castle" it's a secret message that implys the princess is the check and the other castle is a job, the employees aren't getting paid!

I always knew that Nintendo would be like this, I'm glad it's finally coming out.

That's actually a worth while thing to analyze. A LOT of games from big publishers have some type of gag or bit or theme about being overworked, unrealistic expectations, cruel bosses, low pay. A more honest approach isn't gonna bring a lot of new conclusions to the table, it's pretty obvious why those are there. But you could make some high-effort conspiratorial (or satirical) nonsense if you wanted to.

To be fair, “overworked” is, like, the default state for any worker in any company in Japan. A video like that would be so genius because of how mundane the fact that it’s probably true actually is, but how easy it would be to spin it as something uniquely deserving of attention and surprising somehow.

No way he just came up with this on the spot, it sounds and feels real. I need this video essay.

It would be convincing, too. Simple is the single greatest liar I've ever seen.

I'd rather watch a fake video essay than something I've seen 10, 000 times already that probably wasn't researched the best and/or lifted from Wikipedia. Bonus points if you fake your sources on the fake video essay
