Common Rookie Artist Mistake!

Cartoon eyes are symbols that represent a realistic shape. What do you do when you have to draw something that doesn't have a symbol everyone knows?

I once though it, and my conclusion is when the observer is drawing, observer basically call the life experience into shape and line thus making it's as a "symbols",

And in That's way the Observer can push the design without ruin the "symbols" because that's symbols in canvas represent something in life of the drawer

I used to try to draw realistic and if I'm gonna be honest I feel like most of us tried to do that but then failed and just made up our own style

My biggest problem is that I draw by following silhouettes, and not the form.... this results in a very fluid and flat drawings with no dimensions.

What people first imagine a thing looking like will be their interpretation based on what they know about it. Like, the fact that a horse has 4 legs and a long neck and snout. That's what differentiates a kid first attempting a drawing and an artist who can truly convey the image. The latter actually knows facts beyond basic, namely how things really look like.

Historians have actually speculated that the heart symbol may originate with an aphrodisiac plant from the sixth century BC named Silphium that had seeds with a heart shape. It's not known what plant the name actually refers to and it may now be extinct

Why exclude either category? Mix symbols and realistic representations together. Make new symbols that still feel symbolic but Are accurate, or draw realistic pieces that use iconographic elements to express an idea
