Gemba is the Japanese term for "Actual Place."

What is Gemba?

Gemba is the Japanese term for "Actual Place."

It is used to indicate the shop-floor where the real value is produced.

The Gemba term is used to underline that the real improvement
has to be done at the shop-floor by direct observation of the AS-IS status.

Every standard cannot be done at the desk but
has to be defined and revised with the team at the Gemba.

Also, a regular Gemba Walk has to be done
by managers with direct observation and asking why to the teams.
