This is to much work, check if u have any ''stopupdate'' services running, disable them, then activate your update services to automatic or manual. that fixes it

for all those who are facing 2 going back to 4, first disable stop updates in services.

The service started after I did registry edit. But then it again was disabled and reg key was set to 4 automatically! Can you tell the reason why? I do have one cracked software installed, is that the reason?

After refreshing regedit the values are same again for eg:4 not 2

I have error 1058 trying to start wuauserv service and even when i change value in registry to 2 or 3 after pc restart i have again value 4 (disabled service). Why? How can i fix this?

No matter what I do to Windows Update in regedit or services, it keeps changing back to 4 in regedit and disabled in services. Any idea why?

my young sister was trying to make the pc faster
then she disable all of the services
now my pc cannot instal anything(error code 1058)
and cannot run task manager too

Thanks. I did the whole as you said but when I start service I get error message: Windows could not start the Windows Update service on Local Computer. Error2:The system cannot find the file specified

I too experienced this issue for three times in different scenarios with different windows 10 editions in three years before. Solutions are explained in this video is correct. Because I solved this issue with videos solutions..
Normally this issue will occur when the users try to do optimisation by using registry cleaner softwares or by windows tweakers softwares.

i tried to change the registry editor "start" DWORD from 4 to 3 but it doesnt save the changes even after i restart

Just disable the "stop updates" In service and you are done
