*Forgot to add.. This doesn't take anything away from "purity" of the sport. There is so much technology in these cars now, that it's hard to argue any valid point about pure driving. As long as the same rules apply to everyone it's just another layer of strategy and I love it.

As with any rule change, I feel it impacts the history of a sport. Where previous generations had to do things a different way to achieve results. Normally new rules and technologies are not implemented without heavy thought and consideration. In this particular scenario, I'm sure they had some good reasoning to implement the DRS system. I just started watching F1 and watched this video to familiarize myself with the term. My assumption is it provides a more exciting experiencing, and potentially also provides some safety in the sense that overtaking is a little more controlled by the preset parameters.
