When Tom Araya talks you would never think that he is the vocalist of SLAYER

To be fair, blackie was kind of a jerk back then. If you pissed off Tom araya then you're probably in the wrong.

Luckily, by now, Blackie has majorly chilled-out. But check-out how incredibly soft-spoken Tom Araya is here. DAMN...had no idea!!

I love them both

Having Slayer open for WASP was a stupid idea. WASP back then were going for a more traditional Heavy Metal sound that was coming out in the 80s, Glam with a bit of a cutting edge to it, while Slayer was an extreme thrash band that drew in a different crowd, some of whom couldn't accept genres outside of extreme metal.

Actually....I had the chance to meet Tom and he really is a total sweetheart of a guy. Down to earth and very kind. We sat on a table backstage and were swinging our legs and laughing...talking about everday life. And yes, he does believe in God...we talked about that too. He is really charming and not the cocky rockstar type at all. So happy he found love and has a beautiful family.

Rule number 1.
Do not play after Slayer. Blacky's fault for not knowing the rules..

I saw SLAYER play 23 times. The time they opened for marilyn manson, half the crowd left after they finished.

OK just wish he would say what difficulties there was with Blackie.

Not suprised Slayer had a problem. I heard that Blackie would often get zooted on qualudes backstage and start saying he was a Wasp King looking for his Wasp Queen. He would start making buzzing sounds, with his arms out and threaten to sting anyone that got in his way. The 80s were crazy! 😮

I saw Testament open for Slayer and they blew the roof off the place. Slayer came out to a frenzied crowed, and it was awesome.

I played in bands back in the day. I've played with Nile / Exteme Noise Terror / Sabbath to name some, but my band once supported Napalm Death, and we had the whole place chanting our name !!! Now, Napalm had two support acts, us and another European band ( I forget who ), and because the crowd loved us, the manager of the Euro band was protesting and that we needed to leave the stage NOW, after just 4 tracks !!! 🤔

We stayed on for another 4 tracks 😬
The DJ / Sound Engineer / Venue owner / NAPLAM DEATH told the other support act's manager to " F off amd leave us alone to.play on " !!! 😂😂😂

Amazing.

I saw this tour. Half the place left after Slayer played. And when WASP came on, everyone was chanting WASP sucks!
