The South African variant of COVID-19 mentioned in the interview is quite different from the English variant, although they are similar in allowing for a higher transmissibility of the virus. There certainly does seem to be an unfairness in both the UK and South Africa being targeted for entrance restrictions from other countries because their sophisticated systems for genome analysis allowed them to identify these new strains, although there isn't incontrovertible evidence they even started in them. Any variant that started in a country without genome analysis, which is most countries, would never be detected there; there is no way that it could be.

1:40 “it’s two jabs”

Could have sworn I was watching CBC not BBC.

Why is Canada getting so few doses? Embarrassing rollout compared to the UK, and even the USA... I hope the volume of doses significantly ramps up in early Q1.

We need at least of 400, 000 Jab per day capacity to finish the task. That means around 2000 extra nurses if average 200 jabs for a nurse per day.
