Monster Squad TV Facts

This video focuses on facts from the Saturday morning TV show the Monster Squad that aired Saturday mornings on NBC from September 11, 1976, to September 3, 1977. This TV series featured Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Wolfman also known as the Werewolf joined together as a superhero team. The names were altered for the show. Wolfman was named Bruce W. Wolf. The Frankenstein's monster was named Frank N. Stein, and Dracula was usually shortened to Drack at least in coversation.

In this video I go over information about the actors and the many surprising connections to the 1966 Adam West Batman series which included guest stars, the main actors, and even the creator of the Monster Squad who was one of the writers for Batman.

The show only lasted one season and is not related to the movie of the same name that came out in 1987.

I LOVED watching your video!! I watched every episode when they aired on NBC and was also given a Monster Squad game from my Mother. I still have it in my collection. Since then, I've seen every episode again and even have 16 millimeter color film print of one episode, "The Claw" and a publicity kit.

Fred Grady does have a Batman Connection. Adam West was on an episode of The Love Boat ❤😊

There was a Halloween episode of The Love Boat where Isaac was Frankenstein, Doc was the Werewolf and Gopher was Dracula. I kinda wondered if it was a subtle callback and thought it would be cute if someone even in the crowd was dressed as Walt so it wouldn’t be too obvious but a rewarding nod to those who ‘knew.’

I agree. They should've continued.

Stanley Ralph Ross wrote a “Batman” episode with a “Ronald Ray Gun” that turns people into cardboard, but he had to change the name because if its clear reference to California’s governor, Ronald Reagan.

Years later, Ross used the same ray gun in “Monster Squad” and this time got away with calling it the Ronald Ray Gun.

When this show came out I was a young teen who had previously gone through a big monster movie phase including staying up late to watch on TV and collecting all the models and magazines I could. I was just getting into watching pro sports when this show came out and I saw a few episodes and hated it. The monsters looked and acted so stupid. The whole thing was dumbed down for little kids. As for monster parodies I loved Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein and the Groovie Goolies cartoon. And I really was impressed by Gilligan's Dracula and Mr. Hyde portrayals in those episodes. But this show was really really bad. The long hair and skinny legs on Frankenstein annoyed me the most.

Johnathan Harris played DR. Smith on Lost in Space, NOT Mr. Smith

I heard of the Monster Squad movie but not this, this reminds me of Tales from the Crypt keeper episode with a wax museum and I knew that the Guy who plays Dracula did voiced the Scarecrow.
