In Greece we don't belive in the Greek Gods anymore but we preserve our history. In Egypt they don't believe in their ancient Gods but they preserve their Pyramids and whatsoever. China is doing everything to lose it's amazing culture. It's sad.

Buddha must be smiling "You can destroy idols, you can't destroy faith'.

Meanwhile Communism acts much like a religion as well.

I am budhist. And the most important thing in budhism is the impermanence. Noting is permanent. So dont worry, be happy.

I’m Buddhist. Though I’m incredibly saddened by the destruction of these statues, Buddha will always be in my heart. And to my fellow Buddhists, the statues may be gone, but Buddha will always stay in our hearts. Be kind and respectful of other faiths and religions. Be kind and respectful of everyone. It's not just religion, it's also their culture and history that they are destroying.

Destroying competing ideologies displays weakness and fear.

Buddhism is something that has existed in China for more than a millennium, taking this vital chunk of history out is just insane

Worlds Tallest Buddha’s built abt 1800 years ago in the province of Bamyan in Afghanistan were destroyed by the Talibans now the same is happening in China. Very shameful indeed.

Just like buddhism says nothing is permanent..
We are already aware of that.
This is a simple statue that was made as a representation of lord buddha so we can worship and pay our respect to him.
Destroying a statue won't do anything to buddhism..

Our religion will stay until the day of its destruction..
Because that's how things are nothing is permanent..

I'm not a Buddhist, but, If this can happen to one faith then it can happen to all faith or religion.

Regardless of one's faith, it's sad to see something beautiful torn down.

First they came for the Tibetans, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Tibetan.

Then they came for the Uighurs, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not Uighur.

Then they came for the Buddhists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Buddhist.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Atheism is not hating on Religions rather is just not believing on them.

I am a buddhist from Sri Lanka. Literally I have no words. It is the most " innocent " religion. It is not a religion that is just based on God, but believes the wisdom of humanity. So rude and heart breaking.😑
