Just Transition Platform meeting: Smart specialisation in the JTF regions

The Just Transition Fund (JTF) will support the EU regions most affected by the transition to a climate-neutral economy, with the aim of diversifying and modernising their local economy. This should be in line with the endogenous potential and capabilities of territories. To receive support from the JTF, each region should prepare a Territorial Just Transition Plan (TJTP) to outline the key priorities and strategic actions. A strategic approach to an innovation-driven diversification should play a key role in this process. In the session, first experiences and lessons learned about strategic alignment of TJTPs and smart specialisation strategies (S3) were discussed and reflected with a diverse group of EU regions. An introductory presentation on the core prioritisation areas in the selected JTF regions was followed by presentations by regional representatives four Member States and moderated panel discussion.
