There's nothing tragic about coldplay. They're probably/Arguably the biggest band of 21st century as far as it goes to record sales, streams and tours.
They used to set record for highest ticket selling for a world tour.
Coldplay literally loved by people around the world be it Europe, America and their asian fan following is second to none to any of an English speaking bands.

After X&Y I drifted away from Coldplay's next albums, they didn't do much for for me, and then Ghost Stories came out, particularly two songs on that album became holy hymns to me, Midnight and Another's Arms, I love those two songs ardently.

let’s all remember, most things, especially music, are subjective. Each listener has different ears, we each come from different walks of life having unique experiences that make up the fabric of our perception of the world and its music. You can love a song by an underdog band and then a song by a worldwide loved and praised artist doesn’t speak to you at all. We all have opinions and that’s ok. Coldplay speaks to some and not to others but that’s not at the fault of the band.
