This one was an especially good "rules" story. It took the basic premise, twisted it a little, and altered the tone, which completely changed style and impact. Just a really nice story that still has that air of mystery and a tinge of horror.

This need to be a series. Its an absolute GOLD. I wonder what would happen if detective reynold summons the Victim of the serial murders instead of the serial killer. It would've solved the problem rather than calling a damn psychopathic ghost.

I felt heartbroken seeing Rick carry the weight of the diner, as if he couldn’t leave his father’s shadow behind. But the moment he heard his father’s advice, a glimmer of hope emerged. Sometimes, letting go is the only way to move forward and truly live for yourself

I love the simplicity of this story. The "rules" stories can often become complicated and convoluted by random rituals the characters have to follow lest they befall a terrible fate. This story was straightforward and focused more on the character experiences than their need to desperately memorize doing or not doing certain gestures. Sometimes the non-rule stories are the best.
