Hello!
I just got the results for my Cambridge exam back, so I want to share some things which I believe are very important when - and before - taking the exam.

1. practice! Write texts, try speaking with people in English, do tasks you find online or listening exercises such as this one! Practicing the same thing over and over will make you familiar with the situation - after all, it will be no different in the actual exam

2. rest! It’s very important to get enough sleep the day before and to not practice/ learn new things that day. All the things you’ve studied until then must be enough, every new information you try to squeeze in on that day, will be forgotten anyways. Moreover, seeing things you haven’t studied yet might make you go into panic mode, causing you to forget all the other things you’ve learned already

3. eat and drink! Please, make sure to have enough food / water with you on the exam day. I’ll explain the importance of it in the last paragraph „My experience“ (please read)

4. focus! I know it sounds dumb, but try to not get too distracted by other factors. I know, that the sound of pens scratching the paper or people talking in the hallways can be very annoying, but try some breathing exercises to calm your mind. Read the tasks carefully and try to do everything that comes easy to you at first. Like this, the points for those right answers are already guaranteed, even if you possibly run out of time.

My experience:
I ended up scoring a B for the C1 exam, with an average of 199points.
Despite practicing listening tasks a lot on this channel, the listening part was by far the one I scored lowest in. But how come if I did practice this much?
The reason is simply lack of focus.
That day I only rested for about six hours and I only had a quick breakfast in the morning (around 8am) . When the listening part rolled around, the one that requires the most attention and focus, it was 11am. Until then I did not eat anything, my bloodsugar was so low that I became increasingly tired, and listening was something I simply could not do. I ended up randomly choosing answers at some point, only because of my lack of focus.
If you know the Cambridge grading system, it would’ve only taken me an average of 200 points to get an A grade. But, my lack of focus prevented me from achieving that. So please, drink and eat properly, use your brakes to stretch, do a walk and just stay calm.

Remember that the worst thing that could happen is to fail and even if you do so, it’s not the end of the world ;>

Much love and greetings from Germany!

I've been listening to all the exercises on this channel and I just want to say "thank you". I passed my C1 and much of the credit goes to these videos. If you practise with all of them, your chances of success will strongly increase.

I scored 25/30, I cannot believe my results, this has given me a sense of hope and also provided me enough strength to continue and keep improving in regards to my C1 exam

I scored 27/30. This is not the best but I am glad
I just finished watching all 66 videos and... DAMN! This is a tricky exam definitely. I want to believe I will do great in my actual exam. BTW, if you are not getting the expected scores, do not worry. This is part of the process, therefore, do not give up! In my experience, having confidence is as paramount as studying hard. Fortunately for us, these videos can bestow us both.
Maybe most of you don't care, but in case anyone needs it I'd like to say I am proud of you guys :3
Taking this exam is anything but straightforward.

Thank you for uploading such a useful content! I got 25/30 because I skipped articles in questions 11 and 12. But I am sure I will get better with the help of your videos!!

25/30 I've improved a lot since I took FCE, I used to think listening part in CAE was extremely difficult, but I see it is not impossible anymore, now I'm more confident :D

Now that I've received my exam results, I think it would be fair to share my experience with future candidates in hopes of helping them overcome some of their fears about CAE. Although I've always had a knack for the English language, the listening part of this exam has unfortunately been really tricky for me. From what I've heard, native speakers also struggle when faced with this kind of exercise, probably because it requires great focus and attention to detail. In mock exams, my lowest score was always in Listening-I just couldn't focus until the end without my mind wandering and sometimes the multiple-choice questions gave me a hard time as well. I must say, honing my listening skills on a daily basis has definitely aided me in scoring 210 points in the actual exam, which took place after 9 long months of intense preparation. I think I've rewatched all of the videos on this channel at least ten times. Luckily, the exam was much easier than all the mocks I've sat -though I'm aware that this can vary from person to person. As for the other parts of the exam, I also scored 210 points in Reading, Use of English and Speaking. My Writing score honestly came as a surprise: 190 points is hardly up to scratch, considering I would always get impeccable marks in mocks. However, with an average of 206 points, I'm more than pleased. Now, keep in mind that taking this exam calls for a great deal of practice and stress management. Personally, I'm the kind of student to practise more than I should, but that can all go down the drain if I can't keep my emotions in check, which almost happened on the day of. Thank God I got back on track and finished everything in time, including going over my answer sheet repeatedly to ensure I hadn't written anything in the wrong place(of course I had, but I fixed it). The bottom line is, practice makes perfect, but knowing your worth is also a determining factor in passing any exam, in my opinion. The results may not necessarily be what you expect, but you should see this as a valuable learning process. Good luck out there, I'm sure you'll pass!

I've never signed up to Cambridge course for a valuable degree (decision which I regretted) and still got 29/30. I usually speak this fast when I practice the speaking so I had no problem except for some words that made me answer wrongly one question. Thanks for sharing this listening test :D

I have a strange discovery that I'd like to share. I had some CAE listening exercises but I didn't have the audio CDs, so I had no choice but to answer the questions by reading the script only (turning the listening tests into reading tests). I restricted myself to reading the script twice only, though. The results turned out to be a disaster. I doubted I could ever pass this Listening paper because I couldn't do so even with the scripts printed out. The strange thing is, when I do some other CAE listening exercises properly, like this series on YouTube, all of a sudden I am doing well. I thought perhaps it's my reading skills that explain why my crazy script-reading-only approach does not work. However, I actually find no problem with the real CAE Reading test. I have no idea why I failed so badly with the scripts but better without them.
