I installed a second package of honey bees on 04/14/2012. This package shipped from Utah. Though they are the same race, these Italian honey bees look to be of a more golden orange color when compared to the Italian package I installed from Georgia the previous weekend. I'm sure I made a few mistakes. The queen was released directly as the cage had no sugar plug and I didn't have anything handy to plug it up.
The bees seem to be more active in this colony. Maybe they acclimated to the similar spring temperatures? Just a hunch...
