Women’s rights being rolled back in Afghanistan - BBC News

Following the Taliban’s takeover in Afghanistan women’s rights are being rolled back with education being denied to girls, and women forced out of the work place.

At the same time the country is hit by shortages caused by sanctions imposed by Western nations. People are starving and many, mostly women, stand in lines to wait for aid.

One woman told the BBC that “the issue of [women’s] education and literacy is meaningless when you’re dying from hunger.”

I'm not surprised but it's still so sad

Can you imagine what it's like to be a nineteen year old girl in Afghanistan that never lived under the Taliban interpretation of Sharia law.

Imagine a girl born after taliban rule, lived a free life and had dreams to do amazing stuff, suddenly the US abandoned the Afghanistan and taliban comes back in power, the new taliban government informed her you can't go school to receive education anymore, forget about anything you dreamed off, stay in house.

Imagine how would it feel...

Surprise, surprise who would have thought leaving a terrorist group to run the country would work out bad. Poor Afghan people they deserve better . So many lives lost to end up back at square one 💔

Least surprising news ever. So you're saying that a group that shot a girl i the head for the crime of wanting an education may still be misogynists? Sooner or later, the Afghanis have to fight for themselves, or leave the country.

I mean who's fault is here 🤨. The men in the army of Afghanistan didn't fought back 🤨. Just let them in for free . Those men where cowards . Hell women even have more courage.

After years of training and weapons supplied the Afgan Army would not fight for their country.

Everyone in these comments ignoring that woman who said that the sanctions will kill Afghan women faster than the Taliban yet everyone is of course focusing on that then thinking about the actions of Western countries have on the common people. America especially has a duty to the Afghan people such as not starving them through sanctions.
