Fears of a health crisis in Europe have added a sense of urgency to an EU summit held on Dec 16. It's projected that Omicron will become the dominant COVID-19 strain on the continent as early as next month. The EU health agency has warned that booster jabs alone are not enough. Omicron infections are doubling every other day. As the EU braces for a winter wave, several countries such as Italy, Ireland, Portugal and Greece have tightened entry restrictions.

in South Africa there is not so much concern about omicron; if it spreads very fast but they see it as a synole flu; Boris is exaggerating

I hope our doctors/medicos are keeping tabs of those infected by Omicron variant.
People are being exposed/infected to a less virulent version of covid 19.
So, most of those infected will surely develop naturally antibodies against omicron.
I am counting, however, on the doctors/medicos are checking if these antibodies are also good against virulent covid variants.
God Bless Always.🙏🙏🙏

I feel sympathized with Europe - the old continent, figuratively and literally (e.g. in Germany, 50% of people are older than 50 years old). 😢

South Korea to test AI-powered facial recognition to track COVID-19 cases | Al Arabiya English
December 13, 2021
South Korea will soon roll out a pilot project to use artificial intelligence, facial recognition and thousands of CCTV cameras to track the movement of people infected with the coronavirus, despite concerns about the invasion of privacy.
The nationally funded project in Bucheon, one of the country's most densely populated cities on the outskirts of Seoul, is due to become operational in January, a city official told Reuters.

The system uses an AI algorithms and facial recognition technology to analyse footage gathered by more than 10, 820 CCTV cameras and track an infected person’s movements, anyone they had close contact with, and whether they were wearing a mask, according to a 110-page business plan from the city submitted to the Ministry of Science and ICT (Information and Communications Technology), and provided to Reuters by a parliamentary lawmaker critical of the project.
