Acute flaccid myelitis (AFM) is an emerging disease entity that is characterized by acute onset of flaccid limb weakness. This can be challenging to recognize and diagnose as it presents similarly to other neurologic diseases. This video discusses the clinical presentation, imaging features and differential diagnosis of AFM. We also provide an approach to managing AFM and describe the CDC’s role in the surveillance of AFM.
