Seems like the ATC was in shock and trying to make sense of what happened. The pilot was so calm that it could appear that he was pulling a prank.

It was a sky diver plane, the sky divers jumped, and after attempting to land, the right main landing gear was damaged, and the co-pilot (Charles Hew Crooks) was in control. They headed to a bigger airport for an emergency landing. Crooks then said he was sorry, took his headset off, got up, and jumped out of the sky divers hatch. He landed in someone's backyard, and a couple hours later, police found his body. Kratom was found in his system, which is used to treat anxiety but can cause impairment.

I had to listen to it about 5 times to process, no wonder tower had no proper response.

ATC acting like the pilot just contacted them to say what he had for lunch. Like bro…DB Cooper V2 just yeeted himself out the plane!

The atc was acting professionally.
What do you expect him say.

Audio hearing test is required for ATC

For those criticizing the atc, do you actually think they are trained for that? They are trained to assist in an emergency. After atc was told by the pilot that the copilot had jumped out of the plane, at least he didn't say" you gotta be effen kidding in me"!!!

Was a copilot ehi had damaged the landing gear on a hard landing that they had to abort and were on up, said he was sorry and jump out the back to his death. Was a skydiving flught and they had done 3 or 4 that day. Happened early may of 2024. Man folks are severely stressed and just need to be told everything is ok...be nice to people never know what they are going through

ATC's job is to make sure the PLANE is fine.
I rather doubt he ever even Thought about keeping track of the idiot who jumped out. Concern for the plane is paramount at that point.

ATC sounds like a McDonald's drive-thru assistant "would you like anything else with your order?" what a crazy response to something like that 😳

I think traffic control was in shock and disbelief.

I’d love to listen to the reset of this audio after ATC realized what he said

This is a shortened version-at the end he tells ATC I'm letting you know where you can get the body and no, he had no parachute.

Question I had - and needed clarification: Was Co-Pilot geared up with parachute 🪂 or, clearly, emotionally incapacitated . . . thus committing suicide. While I understand that remaining pilot & ATC have to be in SHOCK, some clarification of communication WOULD have been helpful:

ATC: Repeat
Pilot: Roger, Co-Pilot ran out rear exit of plane, presumed falling to his death. No parachute. Do you need me to . . . Plane Ident. Over . . .
Am in NO WAY Gigging this poor pilot for comm omission-simply pointing out what might have helped.

Ditto ATC: Once he’d collected himself . . . and we do not HAVE subsequent communications . . . 😮😱
Meanwhile, RIP pilot who died 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Condolences to family and ❤’d ones.
Remarkable story. Thank you for sharing.
