1/2 T Salt
1 T Baking Powder
1 T Bacon Drippings

What a great video . Some of my Confederate ancestors were members of Quantrill's Raiders . Cornpone plus bacon and catfish could be carried in a saddle bag for 2 days .
 I still make cornpone, corndodgers and catfish and bacon to this day .

0:21 That couldn't be further from the truth Indian cornmeal has much more flavor given that it was much more diverse, it was often parched in coals and ground in a morter and pestle. Industrial cornmeal may have its own flavor but in no way does it have more or better flavor. Which one is better is completely subjective.

Corn pucks. Not quite hard tack but just about. I'm glad my grandmother stuck with the way softer version of this which is just like flapjacks but with self rising meal instead of self rising flour. That with salmon or mackerel patties and gravy for sopping up made from the juice. Good times.
