At first glance this song seems so oblique, but after a few listens I think I have a better understanding: It's a wistful assessment of Avalon's life thus far, a sentimental reflection on her youth and hopefulness for her adulthood. But that hopefulness is tempered by worries (the "poison") that cloud her visions of tomorrow. That's my interpretation, anyway.

Avalon, you're amazing. Thank you for sharing your perspective on the world with us!
