You need to check out a band by the name of Dopethrone they are from Canada awesome doom/sludge band. Also check out Slow Joint I think they are from Norway, they have more of a weedeater sound.

For someone just getting into doom, sludge, stoner, desert, and acid rock, can you recommend a good tuning and string gauge to start with on a Les Paul? Is there a "most common" or somewhat standard tuning and string gauge for these styles? I find that having too many options is making it hard to dig in and really get going. Thanks so much for all you do!
