Here is one of the most exciting finds to hit the market in years. This Grandidierite is from the new productions of gemmy material from Southern Madagascar. The mineral was first described in 1902, but there has been little of the mineral found until the past 2 years and gem quality material was unheard of until recently. It is a Silicate mineral with a hardness of 7.5 which is durable enough for jewelry! Rare gems that are durable enough for jewelry are few and far between. This set is fantastic! The set displays how fantastic the color Grandidierite can produce. They are a fantastic Caribbean blue color. This set will make a fantastic channel set piece that would be difficult to replace. They could also be accents to another rare gem, like a Jeremejevite! These stones are quite rare and the production is quite limited from one source in the world. Enjoy!
