Blizzard have already shaken the foundations of the Warcraft Universe with Shadowlands. Their newly revealed realm of Death already has massive implications on so much of what we’ve seen, and there’s one, in particular, that may be the most important going forward: What, exactly, is a soul? In exploring this a little bit, I found unsettling truths of the Warcraft universe. Fun Fact: the Draenei, before ever coming into contact with the Naaru, we're immortal beings. And not even 'empowered' like the elves - they just were so naturally by that point in their history ( with Argus being described as a paradise where the only longing was for more knowledge). So our blue Spacegoats aren't normally very connected with death in general.

So if the “natural” destiny of souls is to be used up as fuel, how are the Draenei wrong to say “nope” to that? I fail to see the moral imperative to submit to oblivion for the sake of the shadowlands. What am I missing?

I highly doubt Blizzard will explore souls this deeply. Sad that I have so little faith in them. They will likely ignore all these exception of souls reaching shadowlands, or at most give it a passing handwave.
