It is not acceptable just because we haven't this low temp for years. It is the state government responsibility to manage it to make sure the equipment are winterized and this power outage wouldn't happen again at this magnitude. Always prepare for the worst.

I just feel absolutely horrific for people who rely on electric for medical necessity. Dialysis esp. I just feel so bad. This cannot happen again. I was born and raised in MI. I moved to TX in my 20s. This is appalling to me and I'm used to this weather. I'm used to being the first one without power and the last one to get it back. I have never seen in my entire life something so widespread (in dangerous weather). If we are to stay deregulated, we need to winterize. The proverbial "they" decided it wasn't worth the price ~10 years ago after the 2011 storm. Let the people vote on it. I'm also willing to bet there will be another spike in COVID19 cases because of people grouping together with others that don't live with them because of having no power. This is outrageous and humiliating.

Northern states don’t “freeze up” on power. These companies just skimp on equipment to profit as much as possible.

The governor is throwing Ercot under the bus when it is his administration that is supposed to oversee all of this.

Gonna be much worse...busting pipes, dying pets, flooded house, moldy refrigerators, fires in apt complexes due to starting candles and fireplaces left on etc..

The Gov. Missed learning that ERCOT doesn't make the rotations. It's the deliveries, Oncor, Centerpoint, that are not rotating

Ercot is not equipped obviously 🙄our state needs to be proactive, I'm one of those who is senior and have health issues my children are scared some thing is going to happen, they have been taken care of me for awhile, one of my kids is with me 24/7 and I'm very thankful, another son comes to make sure we get food and the fireplace is doing

ERCOT should have been honest upfront. They said the rolling blackouts would be 15 minutes- 45 minutes at a time. They straight up lied and nobody could prepare.

I have found in Dallas that McDonald’s won’t close on most holidays, forcing its employees to work no matter the festivities. But add 1 to 2 inches of snow to the land, and NOTHING is open."
