Yeast Harvesting Hoegaarden White & Homebrewing Clone Recipe

This week we explore Yeast Harvesting.

John discusses making a White Ale for the spring time as an annual part of his brewing plan. This year he wanted to experiment with Yeast Harvesting and whether or not he could propagate up yeast from the Classic White Ale; Hoegaarden.

He used the dregs from 6 bottles of Hoegaarden and did a two step starter with canned starter wort. He made the classic Pils/Wheat grist with coriander and orange peel.

The beer is still fermenting away and hopefully we will be drinking a classic White Ale soon.

Good information and communication. Do have footage of the yeast cultivation from inital dregs through to use? Would love to see, especially how to save the newly activate yeast when refreshing the starter.

Brewed 3 batches in the last week. Porter, Brown, and Pale Ale. Changed the beer lines in my kegerator. Ordered more beer ingredients. How can I be so busy and bored at the same time? The more free time I have, the harder it is to get anything done.
