As a serious writer, Jonathan Franzen likes complex sentences. This is not one of them. Nor is this.

I can't remember the last time I saw a novelist on a mainstream talk show that wasn't Charlie Rose. Kudos to the Late Show team.

I like him. What a mind for writing, and a great voice. He could do voice overs,

Anyone else feel like Stephen seems to be in his Colbert Report persona for this interview? I miss that guy.

I loved the corrections, so I will read more of his books
the corrections is very funny even though I saw so many reviews and no one called it funny I laughed a lot while reading it

It’s funny but dismantling to watch Colbert dance around a guest that even he may think is smarter than him.

Why does he always get thumbs down on his interviews?

In the "old days" people were capable of "long thoughts, " not just sound bites or vapid tweets. And in movies today the idea of a scene that goes on for minutes without a car crash or an explosion is considered to be boring or a form of torture for people with short attention spans. That is why the Fassbender movie about Steve Jobs did poorly. Lots of dialogue.

When will Colbert STOP disrespecting his guests? When will he get that it is not he himself who is the guest and subject of the interview? Stephen, grow the f up!

How on earth can he say “if you would tweet…, I would…”?
It is “if you tweeted…, I would…”!
Man!!!

It's more people tolerating Cris Collinsworth on Sunday than anything else.

This is a guy who seems to have no clear idea as to what he thinks about anything.

this is so bizarre, the host acts like a child and makes Franzen seems out of place...

I agree whole-heartedly. I don't have a Twitter account, but I have great difficulty texting succinctly. My friend's and family's texts seem to average 5 words or less, while mine are usually 4 or more times longer. Suffice it to say, I don't text a lot. And it is only with great difficulty that, sometimes, I will leave out punctuation. These formats were not built for people like us.
