I wanted to let you know that even though I only discovered you guys 6 months ago. My favorite thing is that for me you're a new thing but you've got such an amazing back catalog of music that goes back 10 years. I love it. And I say 10 years because that's what I've seen. I'm sure there's more

I like his voice but, and this is a big but, neither the singer nor the band are really taking this song and making it their own. Go back to the original John Hiatt version with Ry Cooder on guitar and Nick Lowe on bass and compare it to this version and you will see what I mean.
