First we determine a situation follows a binomial setting. The acronym BINS can help with this. We check to see that it is binary, independent, has a fixed number of trials, and a fixed probability of success. We then calculate probabilities based on the binomial and geometric distributions. We also use binomcdf and binompdf on our TI-84 Plus graphing calculator.
