Kinkakuji in Kyoto, Japan is SO CROWDED🤦🏻‍♂️🇯🇵🏯 | Expectations vs Reality

Is Kinkakuji in Kyoto, Japan worth visiting? 🇯🇵

This is what the beautiful golden pavilion looks like
shortly after opening for the day. As you walk through
the temple grounds you're almost in a line that moves
at a very slow pace. Although everyone is friendly and
doesn't stay in one spot for pictures too long, it
definitely takes away from the experience and the zen
feeling intended at a temple. This temple is also
further away from other attractions in Kyoto.

With that being said, is this golden pavilion worth it?
It's worth it to visit once because it is a beautiful
iconic site that everyone should experience. However,
I would not pick it above visiting other temples
because of what I said above. If you have only have a
few days in Kyoto with a lot of things on your to do list, then this might be a tough choice to make!

Oh wow thx for sharing. Considering a tour and this is a stopping point, but I guess it’s to be expected in a densely populated place, right?
