There is something so funny about Hank watching Puss in Boots 2 and thinking “he just like me fr” and I’m here for it. So lovely and insightful as always.

“John, I’ve finally found *my* Penguins of Madagascar” was just an excellent closing line. Really appreciated your insights here, Hank. 💚

The line about Orin having “a heart of - he’s six, he’s working on it” really got me. I babysit a six year old boy and honestly, nothing could ever be more true.

Antonio Banderez shared that this movie was intensely personal to him and he helped shape its direction because of his experience after having a heart attack and the fear and sense of mortality that it caused him. The parallels to a YouTuber are certainly there, since already built into the story is the allegory of Antonio Banderez' life as a performer.

Edit: Banderas

I think it's safe to say, Mr. Green, that your kid has the heart of a child.

"You can sing a song to 85, 000 people, and they'll sing it back for 85, 000 different reasons" - Dave Grohl. Although it may not be music, it still applies.

I used to work at a hospital, and one of the "best" parts for me was working with death and the dying. And I learned very quickly that what the dying want, and need, to hear when they feel the Wolf approaching, is not "You'll be fine". It's "I will be here with you".

This is why everyone should be Supporting the writers and actors striking to be able to continue making surprisingly beautiful and meaningful work in the years to come!

“He has a heart of… he’s six you know he’s working on it” is such an amazingly hilarious line.

The reason this movie is about Puss in Boots wrestling with his own mortality, is because while it was in production hell, Antonio Banderas was hospitalized due to a heart attack and it completely changed his perspective on life. The sincerity of this movie is unmistakable, because it comes from experience.

I recommend Puss and Boots to everyone. My husband and I even got made fun of because we liked a "kids movie." We are like, "YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND! IT'S SO GOOD!"

We saw the movie the week it came out. For folks with anxiety the part where he has a panic attack was deep. I can't recall any of their movies this good at perceiving how anxiety looks and feels. There are kids who can relate so this became an excellent movie for both kids and adults alike.❤

Hank having full on existential realizations because of the Puss in Boots movie is exactly the kind of quality content I watch the vlogbrothers for.

Now I'm sobbing. I have covid and currently have a fever, and fevers make me weep at the drop of a hat. We're all so vulnerable.

Gah! John's videos are supposed to make me tear up, not Hank's!!

Well done, Hank. Your openness through this is helping me process some of my own stuff. 💜

My 11-year-old was scared this morning about getting sick tonight at a sleepover. She is healthy and unlikely to get sick, but anxious just the same. We watched your video and talked about how bad it feels to be scared and how the people at the sleepover will listen and care if she tells them she’s scared. She seemed to feel better after that. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us!

There was so much love put into this movie. Not only is death visible foe all first 8 of puss' lives if you look closely (not in trailer) but the start death fight and the final death fight mirror each other, even down to the reflection shot in the sickles.
