One of the best and simplest explanations of this out there

Said it perfectly... all chords might not be practical to play or use but show you how chords are built... that was brilliant. My fingers do NOT stretch like that so I have to play 7 with alternate chords.... as long as you have the minor or major 3rd and the b7 or 7 and a 5 or a 1 its still the same chord... meaning you can substitute notes to make chords if you have too... but you have to include the major notes in a chord in order for it to be that chord... this takes practice... My suggestion is to be able to play the same CHORD in different positions so you have options. This takes time, patience and practice....

And for a new exercise, try practicing changing between these four chords in order!

So I was wondering if it matters what fret your on.
Played two easy licks when I was 13 and haven't played for around 40 years and really want to make some sort of go at it even at my age. 😂.
Ordered me a cheaper one and it should be in soon

I prefer to call the 7 flat 5 half diminished 7.
Great vid tho.

I found this confusing. To make a c7 from a classic c chord (5th through 1st string: c, e, g, c, e) all chord books show add b-flat (3rd fret g- string)?? What he is describing must not be the same.

Is he speaking English....I just want to play without taking a PhD in useless overcomplicated theory. Why do some people make everything hard in order to showcase their cleverness? Paul McCartney is the world's only musical billionaire and he doesn't read music - what does that tell you about musical boffins?

A bit confusing because the neck chords drop the root note apparently.
