Alternative: use Sea elves as your race and go down instead of up to drown them.

I have seen several different potential uses for the new grapple, this is honestly probably the simplest but also most practical I've seen ir come up with tbh

As an addition, if you're a Simic Hybrid you can take the "Grappling Appendages" trait to get another pair of limbs that you can use to Grapple targets. You may just want go higher level for 6+ attacks.

Slowfall to add insult to injury? Nah. People's Elbow. Add injury to injury. The insult is the fact I can still get up afterwards.

And if you're a grung it poisons for one minute if they fail a DC 12 con save

One of my favorites, purely for flavor, is Assassin Rogue and Astral Monk. Something about all those "Sneak Attack" Punches is just so funny.

Another use i saw a short about, grapple your party members with auras (like Spirit Guardians) and become a death train by going around killing anythin near you and going near everyone

Grappler is great- it served the sole purpose of buffing the cheese grater build.

Another alternative: Aarakocra as your race. You can drop them from cliff height without needing a cliff.

Also with running up a cliff, you can do the Scar and Mufasa cliff scene. Except with no lions (Unless you are Leonin).

It also works with any mage that has Spike Growth, or similar damaging auras. It effectively doubles doubles a mage's damage output, and that's when you do this grapple trick with only a Single enemy.

This reminds me of a homemade character duo that one of my friends and I made where you have a wizard-warlock permanently transfigured as a large pizza with the different toppings as different spells, and the guy who the warlock praises to is just rouge delivery boy who carries them around everywhere.

A super messed up build i came up with a while ago works at lvl 1 (assuming your dm interprets the rules this way, I'm not sure if there are any official rulings on how this wouls work, but i could see it being contentious).

It's a lvl 1 centaur bard, focused around dissonant whispers and having a melee weapon. Essentially you charge up to someones face, meeting your conditions to make a hoof attack that turn. Cast dissonant whispers, and force the enemy to use their movement to run away from you. This provides an opportunity attack (because the spell specifically specifies the use their movement, its not the same as pushing someone out of reach).

So you hit with your shortsword/rapier or whatever, and immediately follow up with a hoof attack. (This is the sketchy part, not sure what the exact official rulings are in terms of someone using movement in the middle of your turn, provoking an attack that tells you to immediately take a follow up attack. Its a pretty niche case.)

If this all goes to plan, you've just done 3d6+1d6+mod+1d6+mod at lvl 1. With 1 spell slot. If you assume a str score of 16, you just did 23 damage on average to the poor fucker that dared stand in your way. Let me know if anyone knows the official ruling on that attack of opportunity interaction, i took a brief glance around when i first thought of this, but i never found an answer.

And if you play a bugbear then you have 10' normal arms

One question for this build "carrying capacity"

КассийСевер-нч

OR carry 4 teammates with active damage auras

kruz

You can also be a Thri-kreen for more arms

Unarmed fighting style from one level in fighter and you can deal 1d4 dmg start of your turn for free, all of your attacks have advantage, action surge by taking another level in fighter, fun stuff

Ah yes, grapple my mages, now move them and their auras throught the field.

Grapple your cleric buddy while they're concentrating on spirit guardians! Use your monk movement to tag everyone on the field. Have multiple clerics in the party? Maybe you enlisted the help of a cleregy to help you? Bring 4 spirit guardians to everyone on the field! 12d8 radiant/necrotic damage every turn! (Just dont get fireballed while holding everyone... thats a lot of failed dex saves...)
