Hi Dustin, I think you need to get to that island and take a look around cos I think you have a fair chance of finding it. Just think of the learning curve everyone would have if you got hold of that footage. Got to be worth the effort. Could even take the manic with you to save you the leg work. It is another mission and video as well. Can me on get over there, you just never know.

And now for the ghost story:
"One year to the day since the Disco disappeared, at 2:05 AM, Dustin wakes in the dark to the sound of electronic beeping. Squinting, he scans the room for the source, then stops at the transmitter case in the corner. The sound is unmistakable: Sky Controller has powered on by itself. Dustin tiredly stumbles over to press the off button - then feels his blood freeze as he realizes that the lost Disco has made contact. Instinctively he glances at the FatShark goggles. 'It wants to show me something I may not want to see.' Trembling, he slowly reaches for the goggles, torn between a longing to reconnect with The Craft, and stark terror at the thought of FPV from beyond the grave."

i think Parrot should want to replace your drone free since your actually doing them a favor with real world product testing....IMHO

Even though I knew the end result I was still rooting for you as you were watching the time it should have arrived. I have never looked at the disco but this this really is epic. Hope you manage to get another one. Always nice to have someone out there pushing the limits so we don't have to!

That's one expensive piece of foam.

We choose to go to Kahoolawe in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win ... Looking forward to your second attempt :)

no waypoints or automated missions for me ever, this thing loses signal before it hits the 2km mark unless you have a modded controller, but salutes to you your voice did not change even after you lost your disco, cant afford to lose it.

Sorry about the loss of your beloved Disco. I know you have thought this over and over. How about a name tag inside there Disco's hatch? Maybe a follow up video on new Lost 'n Found tips?

Heads up for your bravery sir. Not many are brave enough to risk their drone for long distance flight.

Dustin, I sincerely hope that Parrot gives you another Disco. it is because your videos that I am purchasing a Disco next week. You do great work, and I hope that you you continue to mod the Disco and push for longer flights with it. I've seen some people set up LTE with the help of a rasberry. I am very interesting in getting into long flights with the Disco, so Parrot - if your reading the comments - PLEASE give Dustin a few more Discos and have some of your engineers give him a call so you guys can brainstorm a 50 mile autonomous flight. New goal for you Dustin. 50 miles bro! I'm thinking LTE setup, GPS tracker, and some sort of dual or triple battery rig modification. I know that's a lot more weight, but c'mon there has to be something that can be done to get this thing up to 50 miles. C'mon Parrot - the YouTube marketing benefits will be insane. I can bet 1-2 million views is attainable.

Hi Dustin. I enjoy your videos. I do a lot of way-point flying with my Bebop drone. Much shorter loops of course. I love the excitement of waiting for it to return(or not). I've lost it on 3 occasions. Reasons: 1) Low battery (twice). I just flew it to close to battery depletion and it didn't make it back. 2} Too Low. I programmed it for 20 feet above an orchard's tree tops and it flew into the trees instead.

The red flag to me in your program was the 16 feet altitude over the ocean. My experience is that Parrot products don't control their altitude to that precision. After my orchard crash I always test the programs at a higher altitude, then use the drones video to gradually lower the altitude on subsequent flights.

I congratulate you on your nerve to try this flight. If you're afraid to use a piece of equipment it's not worth having.

Sorry you lost your Parrot. Take from it that you would have educated many people of the dangers and risks in carrying out such missions and how many Parrot fliers won't lose theirs from the same mistakes. I like your very calm attitude, i would of been bouncing.

HI,
You lost the disco because it doesn´t have rudder and so it can´t correct the force of the wind when you put one waypoint on the map in the flight plan, the disco try to overfligh the point, but due to the wind it describe turns untill to over flight the point, or it can happens that with just one turn the disco overfligh the point, but it can happens that it turns and turns without the capacity to correct the wind and the final is it turns untill the end of the batery and it lands by itself.
So, remember, in a flight plan, reduce to the minimum the waypoints. I thing this is a bad program of control of the disco.
You should report your case to Parrot.
Have good flights
