About Murdoch Mysteries:
Based on novels by Maureen Jennings, "Murdoch Mysteries" follows young detective William Murdoch. In a series of stories taking place in Toronto during the 1890s and early 1900s, several challenging murder cases arise. Murdoch uses up-and-coming forensics techniques and an unconventional approach, which often elicit skepticism from his fellow officers and his boss. Coroner Julia Ogden becomes Murdoch's number one ally, and they make a top-notch team, but he must struggle against tradition and prejudice to solve some of the city's most-gruesome murders.

Checking this video out because Charles has recently been cast and is currently filming S7 of the Starz series Outlander. Long time fans of Diana Gabaldon`s novels are excited to meet William Randsom, the 9th Earl of Elsmere and son of Jamie Frazier.

If you had my Grandfather's eggnog m, you would have been on on the floor. He made it with raw eggs and variety of liquors. It fermented for a couple of weeks before Christmas under a cotton towel in a large ceramic bowl. People only had 1 cup and half cup of it if they wanted to get down 3 flight of stairs. They were taking taxis. 2 cups for overnight guests. In the old days you could depend on your carriage horse getting you home and your servant getting to bed. The recipe has been passed down in the family. It is right up there with smuggling alcohol from Canada.

The milk bags were a thing in Communist Czechoslovakia, I remember them from my childhood. There were milk bottles up till the early 1980's, if I remember correctly, but after that, just milk bags. Guess the state-run economy was too lazy to put milk into more complex containers LOL They slowly disappeared in the 1990's, after the democratic revolution. But they're not just a Canadian thing.
