Fredbear (golden freddy) "was" a hallucination in fnaf 1 and 2. In the 3rd or 4th night(I can't remember), the phone guy says golden Freddy roamed around and an accidental "incident" happened. (Meaning he did the bite of 87'.) so, Scott made fnaf 4 to make it think the boy who's the victim of the bite of '87 dream of the animatronics in a more nightmarish look.

ive never told anyone on the internet this story, but this jumpscare actually broke my chair once. i was playing fnaf 4 night 5 5am with a friend of mine in my house when fredbear jumpscared me and i jumped so hard i flipped back on my chair and broke it's back. traumatizing experience. i will never forgive you fredbear. go to hell..
