This has to be an AI generated "lecture". For student zombies (they are legion) fixated on getting some kind of diploma this sort of pre-digested stuff may serve a purpose. It is unlikely to induce independent critical thinking, but in many environments that is unwelcome anyway. Long ago I went down this generative linguistics rabbit hole then climbed out again after walking away from two PhD candidatures on it (wrote one on something else). For what it is worth, I've come to see generative models as a reasonable description of computer languages, but not of natural human languages which are emergent.
