Learn to skydive - AFF Course - This course is usually about 8 jumps helping you go from just starting to be able to jump alone.


In order to become a solo skydiver, you need to do what's called an AFF course. This course is usually about 8 jumps helping you go from just starting to be able to jump alone.

Every skydiving association has their specificity and so do the different dropzones, that being said, the goal of this video is to give you an overview of the skills you need to develop to become a solo skydiver.

Skydiving is an amazing sport so just start by asking your local dropzone how you can get started!

I start my aff training tomorrow in sunny so cal. I'm nervous and excited.

It’s a lot different than when I first jumped in the 70’s.
A couple of hours of ground training then you did your first static line alone.
5 static line jumps, 5 hop & pops then you started free falls.
Once you let go of the plane you were alone and on your own.

At my DZ skydive the racnch in NY ( just started this year, first tandem and instructor jump within 2 weeks ) your first tandem is considered your level and 1 and level 2 is your fist solo. Is that unusual. They call it the IAF course. Still end up with a class a license after 25 jumps

iIm just curious, how quickly would you recommend (or require) people go through the levels to make sure the lessons stick? Daily, weekly, ect? Do they really have you do a back flip for the level 8 hop and pop?
