West Iceland & Borgarfjordur Day Tour

Показать описание
In Borgarfjörður you will be surrounded by beautiful nature and great history. On the way, you explore waterfalls and hot springs, see farms, and most likely Icelandic horses. We head to Hraunfossar, an impressive waterfall made of subterranean water flowing out of the lava as many tiny waterfalls in the Hvítá River. Barnafoss, the Children's Waterfall, is nearby and got its name because two children fell into the river and drowned a long time ago. From there, you continue to the most powerful hot spring named Deildartunguhver. It has the highest flow rate of any hot spring in Europe (180 liters per second) and the water is about 97°celsius. Next, we visit Grábrók, a volcano crater formed by a fissure eruption approximately three thousand years ago. The walk to the top is quite easy as the crater is only about 170 meters high (560 feet). There is a good path with manmade steps. The trail around the volcano crater offers an impressive view over the scenic area and a tiny but beautiful lake that was formed during an eruption. To the northwest, you can see Baula, a cone-shaped and colourful mountain.
