Guys I get that this anime glorified a toxic relationship, but there’s a reason why this anime has such cultural relevance that it even sparked remake after remake and different countries as well. It’s iconic character and story wise, with the toxic male lead having character development as well, which I’m grateful for and compared to other Shoujo manga with toxic male leads who never change

I just love this anime and its plot no matter how many times I watch it I never get bored and this is just so fulfilling to watch as this was my first anime in 2021

I remember burning this onto a CD titled, "Anime Openings". I actually found it in a tub full of stuff my mom had saved over the years. It brought back so much nostalgia.

A lot of people are saying "this relationship was toxic" and it really wasn't. Sure, at the start it was pretty bad, but they started off as people that didn't like each other and grew to like each other (Kotoko liking Irie a bit more, or at the very least she was better at expressing it). Also, the story is presented from the POV of the author who view her husband as this perfect guy and that she viewed herself as kind of an idiot. After the author's death, her husband took over to finish the story and went out of his way to make Irie more flawed and Kotoko better, because he never viewed himself as perfect and he viewed her as beautiful and smart.

loved this anime hated how toxic Naoki was to Kotoko though but the opening slaps soo hard and I loved the live action versions too Mischievous kiss Love in Tokyo and Mischievous Kiss Love in Okinawa
