Why are you talking about the russian aircraft carrier? It is done, it ha been wrecked by fire, it was never a carrier of any significant capacity. It was a jump carrier, it did not have a catapult, therefore the aircraft could not take off with a full capacity of fuel and or ordinance. It was a small conventionaly powered boat, which further limited the number of aircraft carried, and the fuel and ordinance required by the aircraft. Therefore this boat had no significant offensive capability. The best it could do, if it was fully operational, was launch aircraft to protect the carrier. Compare and contrast with Nimitz, launches a fully a flight of aircraft in minutes, then prepares the nxt flight for launch. Has the capacity to recover the first flight as then nxt is being launched.

They lack a combined military infrstructure for a combined arms doctrine. And this limited scope of battle you surmise a ground offensive upon the european battlespace, have you ever bothered to plot the major russian population centers vs actual military bases vs actual combat effectiveness of the basic soldier. Russia loses, hands down. They cannot support a combined arms doctrine due rampant corruption in the military and political systems. Add to that regional internal and military conflicts between regional areas. And the load out of a russian infantryman vs an American infantryman?

One metric missing from this interesting scenario play-out is the fact that since the fall of the Soviet Union Russia has only spent about +/- $10B a year on its nuclear arsenal (that is less than 140k per Nuclear warhead per month, not enough to even maintain the salaries required to look after it). Whereas the USA spends about +/-$60B and NATO another +/-$40B a year on both defensive and offensive Nuclear technology. So with a 10X greater spend per year its quite clear that 26 years into a modern cold war of disinformation, the Russian Nuclear threat is more an inflated view of their self importance than their rust bucket reality! As is all to evident in Ukraine with 2/3rds of the Russian military wiped off its stockpile in 24 months. Dictators and Communist party systems of Government and intolerant religious extremists have an inbuilt self destruct outcome .. Russia, China, African and Arab dictators are no different, they will always loose out to the inevitable march of humanities desire for freedom and Democracy
