If you think about the original song, it’s a pretty doomer Christmas song. It’s basically about how a relationship that went sour on Christmas and how George has this now yearning for this unrequited love, but also realizes that he can’t go back to giving his heart to that person, but instead will give it to someone special.

Like I guess that last part gives it hope, but beyond the song it’s pretty sad on its own.

I really do like hearing his voice slowed down. It’s very distinct.
