48 year old British guy here. I've been following Brand since he was a mainstream TV personality back in the 90's (long before he got into socio-political commentary). And I have to say it's been fascinating to see how much he's changed over the years. Some of you younger Americans reading this may not know that he used to be a very left-wing Egalitarian Socialist/Anarchist. He hated Donald Trump and everything right-wing and Capitalist. But then in more recent years he started to change, which was a very strange and disturbing thing to experience in real time.

And while I don't like to assume, I can't help but suspect that he's known for a long time that his abusive past was coming back to haunt him. Which could be why he morphed his persona into that of a wacky right-wing conspiracy "theorist" (believer/pusher), in an attempt to get a new easily-lead fanbase on his side. Because he knew a larger portion of his old fanbase (mostly liberals, leftists, socialists and anarchists) would see through his manipulative BS.

And yes I am aware of the irony of me suggesting a potential conspiracy here (am I a wacky conspiracy theorists now? lol). But knowing what I know about his past, it honestly wouldn't susprise me if that's the reason he decided to take such an extreme turn from left to right.

As for the notion of him having somewhat of a cult leader mentality, you're abolutetly right about that. But that's nothing new with him. He became that way long before he turned to the right. It was sad to see. But then it got much worse when his politics changed, thanks in part to Trump's brainwashed cult embracing and feeding his already dangerously out-of-control ego.

I used to love Russel Brand back in the day, but his transformation into a full MAGA conspiracy theorist and Christian nationalist has been absolutely wild. Truly needs to be studied by psychologists, sociologists and the likes cause it has been baffling to watch his slow descent into lunacy play out online over the past couple years.
