I did that years a go and it doesnt work, the summer heat weakens the tape bond and the weight of the thing makes it fall apart, I have done my attic taping 3 times now, last time I ended up adding 1x4 lumber to every lap on top of tape and secure it with brad nails to every joist

Can you play straight over this without battening first ?

Foil tape is very tacky and once it contacts it’s game over … we struggle using it to seal our worktop apurtures ….
