I never understood the complaint about the minor delay. When I'm writing, I'm usually looking off to the side, picturing the story unfold. Not staring at the screen.

Great seeing regular videos! I constantly think about writing but I never do it. Using a device like this would remind me of the old days and I like that idea. I just can't justify the cash for this when I can't convince myself to write at all. I have lots of ideas but they eternally float around in my head. Maybe someday...

I'm torn. I love my mechanical typewriters, and I also have one of these. I enjoy both and haven't quite figured out a place for each.

My feeling with the Freewrite is that it is a quick way to get words on the computer. The typewriter is more of a composition tool, but then I still have to get the words on the computer. OCR only goes so far.

Currently, I like the typewriter as an initial rough draft. I smother the pages with fountain pen edits and notes, and then retype on the Freewrite. By then, my edits are more word based or sentence-structure based rather than entire rewrites. This is well suited to the computer. So the typewriter is a drafting tool, the Freewrite starts it into final form, and the computer is the multiple edits.

The Freewrite is an extravagance. But it works well with how I seem to work. Maybe I could eliminate the typewriter or the Freewrite from my workflow, but my second draft is often a complete rewrite stealing ideas but better.

Can you elaborate on the advantages of the iPad? Said this way, is there any reason to not use the iPad? I just don’t see the advantage of the freewrite.

Do you need to have the device connected to the cloud or can you connect it to your computer to off load you work?

The "delay" is equal to the delay of a typewriter.
