I did it, Wth?? I went back to bedside nursing after being off the floor for 10 years. If you are thinking about going back to the floors, you can do it!

Thank you for sharing! I've been an Acute Care NP for the past 10 years and struggling to make this decision to improve my quality of life but it's not easy.... your story was very heartwarming to know that I am not alone!

I can 100% relate with you, I’m currently considering getting back to bedside nursing. I also want to have that freedom.

Gosh! I am 11 years in and I am thinking about going back to the bedside. How are you doing now?

Crazy transition! Many wouldn't have been able to swallow their pride. Ever consider eventually returning; maybe getting additional NP cert?

Hi there!
I have to commend you for being so transparent about why you decided to go back to floor nursing. I am glad you found something that works for you because that’s really all that matters in the end! I wanted to ask you if you have ever considered traveling as an NP? I’ve heard about that you can make great money doing that

It seems to me that over the last several years most nursing students and or new grads I've met are automatically looking past floor nursing to become NPs, case managers or other non-bedside positions. I have no desire to be any of those things, bedside nursing may not be as prestigious, but I just want to do my job, come home and forget all about work.

Seeing 15-18 pts a day, that seems like a breeze. I see 25-30 pts a day in clinic and my chart is done before I clock out.

I couldn't go back to floor nursing. Seems like a total regression no matter how you look at it.

Thank you for sharing. I am going on my 31st year of nursing, but I advanced quickly into case management administration. I have missed bed side nursing the whole time. I just did admin work to get the hours for child care issues. My oldest entered college and now I am free to make changes. I am in good shape so I can physically do it. However, I need to refresh my skills. Do you have any suggestions? I welcome any thoughts.

So glad I found you!!!! I've been a NP for 6 years and last did bedside 4 years ago.
I understand some agencies are picky w/this.
Which agency did/do you use?

I’m in FNP school and my preceptor is trying to encourage me chart while I seeing my patients in my Clinicals. Did you have access to a computer while seeing patients? Good luck with everything.
