I've heard that AlphaZero -- AlphaGo's successor -- actually plays chess (and Go) quite well...

So part of the plan to replace lost jobs is to have displaced workers be pets for old people?

a lil disappointed to see another "AI is all good" advocate drop the ball on the jobs question but at least he had the balls to say that its totally unrealistic to expect truck drivers an fastfood workerrs to learn to write code for AI

The idea that AI might be a threat to humanity sounds quite absurd. That is why Nick Bostrom and others spend so much effort detailing and explaining the idea. It's disappointing to see people brushing it all aside instead of providing counterarguments. I would be happy to see Bostrom refuted.

The door you need to secure is the door to your mind... everyone is worried about a physical bot.. i'd be worried about the non localized aspect..

We need to build robots with brains that will replace people not your kidney!

The Peter Principle in action. Yeah, what I want is an opioid-addicted coal miner in charge of my geriatric care. Great plan! If you bother to think about it, the infinite patience required for care giving is more a factor of machine competence than human. And the brain dead suggestion that the truck drivers don't need autonomous vehicles (to save jobs) but the average commuter does ( to save lives.) So money-making trumps lives once again?

Please leave sociology to the experts. If you want to talk about AI stick to what you actually know instead of devolving into rosy futurist fantasies. An exercise in sloppy thinking.

The race to the bottom has begun. 9:08 to 9:54 demonstrate why building safe AGI is a hopeless task. Oren you are the problem, not the solution.

There is an expression which goes "you can't judge a book by its cover" with which I could scarcely disagree more. YouTube video titles are a prime example of that and this video is no exception. "Demystifying Artificial Intelligence" There is little mystery about the concept of "artificial" and how can one logically declare Intelligence a mystery when the concept of intelligence is neither clearly defined or described.

YouTube has other issues which obscure rational and logical discourse on the subject, not only of "AI" but all others, and that is the hero-worshiping mind-set who take exception to posts such as mine. In terms of the quality of those who watch popular content such as this, there is little intellectual difference to those who read gutter-trash newspapers and mainstream TV. Contributors to YouTube comments are invariably from highly predictable backgrounds and demographics who would be the mouth-breathing, slack-jawed football enthusiast and beer swillers, the middle class pretentious wine-drinking academic yes-man and neurotic emotionally underdeveloped confused man-boys in their Mummy's/moms basement? All of who, in various manifestations are followers and hero-worshipers.

That said, I have, for many years, challenged institutionalized ways of understanding and processing scientific and academic propositions and advocated responsible scrutinization of academic and scientific authority as a common civic moral duty and obligation, not for one or two members of a society but every adult. Without adopting such responsibilities a society cannot logically regard itself as civilized, nor for that matter democratic.

The number one thing that fascinates me the topic of AI is the shear number of people who don't know anything what so ever about the topic and yet have very strong opinions on it.

Looking at the comments below this video, or indeed any other video on the topic, and you will find completely uninformed people who get all of their information on the topic from religious gurus like Kurzweil, sci fi movies like the Terminator and the bullshit constantly churned out by the mainstream media.

If the names that come to mind when you think about AI are Ray Kurzweil, Stephen Hawking and Elon Musk, you know nothing about this topic and need to STFU and start listening to people who actually know what they are talking about.
