That last "okie dokie" was the most polite "f**k it" I've ever heard! 🤣

Life has its own sense of humor and its timing is always spot on.

That axe was a comedian and it died for the bit. Now that is commitment to the craft. Bravo!

Take your time and check the grain when buying any wooden handle, you want a straight close grain that runs the entire length and for an axe one the runs the same direction as the strike of the axe. Sometimes you can look through dozens of handles until you find a great one, worth it though!

"Okie dokey" is Canadian Lumberjack for "Yeah, dude, whatever. I'm done."

The cutting humor was cross-grain, but split before it got axed in a hatchet job.

It worked perfectly !!! The handle broke but not on a part protected by the wrap :)

Wrapping the handle base in metal protects it well. Even a tin can cut and nailed into place can absorb the shock of a missed hit. A piece of pipe hammered to fit then nailed into place works much much better! My Dad did those tricks as my brothers and I grew up and he tired of replacing axe handles.

Great opportunity to explain the importance of handle selection.
Grain runout was the main cause of the incident and would have eventually failed without an over strike.
Beautiful job on the wrap though!🤠

Lol amazing video i just bought a new axe last week for the winter because I broke my other one from exactly what you were trying to prevent in this video, I know the ending didn't quite pan out but I'm still going to give the wrap a go as that is a very smart idea thanks for sharing much appreciated 💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I gasped when the handle broke. I wasn't ready. Poor ax. Rip handle, you were the best handle 💔

I love Paracord, I know there's a difference between what you use and the craft Paracord I use for bracelets, but I do love all the amazing things you can use it for, like hemp, 1 strand of thick hemp can hold 80 pounds! If I ever went off grid I would make sure I had an endless supply of Paracord and hemp for all my needs, I can even crochet with the hemp and the micro Paracord! Make small hammocks and chair seats all kinds of things!

That had all the elements of humor wrapped up by the tell tale okie dokie at the end. Too funny, but you handled that so well.

Always look at the wood grain of the handle when purchasing any tool. It should be straight grain from top to bottom and your tools will last a lifetime.
