A 22-year-old murder suspect is being treated at a local hospital after Canton police say he was hurt when jumping out of a second-story window “in an attempt to flee from officers.”

The situation started around 5 a.m. Monday when officers with the Canton Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the 900 block of Dueber Avenue SW.

That’s where officers found a 52-year-old man laying near the entrance at that address. He was unresponsive from an apparent gunshot wound to the neck, police said.

The victim, identified as Gary Marx of Alliance, was taken to Aultman Hospital where he was later pronounced dead at 5:27 a.m.

After reviewing evidence, detectives then identified the suspect as Jamarri Harper. The Canton SWAT team and detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in the 800 block of Dueber Avenue SW where authorities say Harper was apprehended after jumping from the window.

Harper faces charges of murder, felonious assault, aggravated robbery, having weapons under disability and receiving stolen property, according to the Canton Police Department.

Probably deadbeat red car driver thought it was him. Driver was about to jump out the car and run until he saw someone else was running.

Cops were too busy primping & tinkering with all their fancy Gear upon arrival, they all look distracted and out of place, looks more like a comedy sketch.

Dude I legit lived on the next street over, Garfield 🤣 that red building has had SWAT there so many times over the years, a meth head lady caught it on fire though. I’ve been on this street so many times seen so many car crashes, been to the skate park countless times. I’m not even surprised this happened.
