Side note: the oem Air Lift 3P/3H Controller does not come with the metal plate/magnet on the back of the controller itself. That seems like an aftermarket add-on to the controller.

Did that ring/magnet come with your controller? I think that is was something you or your installed added on the controller, mine is flat on the backside.
